Our Facilities for Visually Challenged Users

The Central Library at NISER is dedicated to supporting visually challenged users with a variety of specialized facilities.

• JAWS Software: JAWS (Job Access With Speech) transforms your computer into a talking device. It reads out all the matter that is on the computer's screen through your computer's speakers/headphones, thus enabling a visually challenged person to use the computer independently and work on all MS Windows applications.
• Personal Assistance: Our staff is trained to provide support and guidance to visually challenged users in navigating the library's resources.

• Sweekar - Provides resources and support for various disabilities, including visual impairments.

• Google Accessibility - Tools and features to enhance accessibility on Google products and services.

• Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired - Offers resources and educational materials for the blind and visually impaired community.

Our Services for Persons with Diverse Abilities

In addition to our services for visually challenged users, we are committed to providing comprehensive support for individuals with diverse abilities. Our services include:

• Materials Retrieval: Users with disabilities that prevent them from retrieving library materials may request at the Circulation Desk that the materials be retrieved for them.
• Online Renewals / Reservations: Users with disabilities can request assistance from the Circulation Desk staff for help with checking the OPAC, placing holds on books, online renewals, and other related services.

Our Facilities for Persons with Diverse Abilities

We are dedicated to offering comprehensive support for individuals with diverse abilities. Our facilities include:

• Ramp & Lift Facility: Central Library has ramps & lifts throughout the library to ensure easy access for individuals with mobility impairments.
• PWD Toilet: Our facility includes a fully accessible toilet designed to meet the needs of persons with diverse abilities.
